Sustainable conditions for the development of renewable energy systems: A triple bottom line perspective

Renewable energy systems (RES) have been proposed as an effective solution for sustainable development. However, the impact of municipal contextual conditions on development RES is still unclear. One literature gaps lack understanding whether balanced economic, social, and environmental aspects sustainability – triple bottom line (TBL) perspective can support policy. We conducted a quantitative analysis 727 medium- large-sized German municipalities to understand should create around TBL dimensions Furthermore, we applied cluster establish patterns adoption supported by TBL. Our results document that advanced adopters are more regarding economic TBL, their outperforms in knowledge-base social cooperation. In contrast, regions with less primarily emphasize reducing dependency increasing acceptance. As main contribution, study provides novel view how work together providing details about connection between specific elements different maturity levels policy implementation.
